Program usposabljanja mladih raziskovalcev (v nadaljevanju program MR) se v Sloveniji v različnih oblikah izvaja že od leta 1985. Gre za izobraževanje perspektivnih študentov, ki so prepoznani kot nosilci razvoja znanosti in za katere država zato namenja obsežna finančna sredstva. Izhodišče raziskave je bilo preučiti, kako program MR uresničuje svoj cilj vzpostavljanja družbe znanja. Namen je bil preveriti, kako se znanje implementira v praksi ter če se sredstva, ki jih država vlaga v program, na dolgi rok povrnejo družbi. Za analizo programa so bile izvedene tri fokusne skupine in anketa. Dodatna cilja raziskave sta bila izpostaviti primere dobre prakse in področja, kjer bi bilo mogoče program dodatno izboljšati.
Since 1985, the training programme for Young Researchers (hereinafter referred to as the YR programme) has been implemented in various forms in Slovenia. The programme focuses on the education of prospective students, who are recognized as the bearers of the development of science and for which the state, therefore, devotes considerable funds. The starting point of the research was to examine how the YR programme accomplishes its goal of building a knowledge society The main purpose was to examine knowledge implementation in practice to determine whether the invested public funds are reimbursed to the society in the long run. Three focus groups and a survey were carried out to analyze the program. The additional objectives of the study were to highlight examples of good practices and areas where the program could be further improved.
