While investigating the ordering and magnetic dynamics in La2-xSrxCoO4 we found some intriguing behaviour for samples with small x, which would imply that the phase diagram is rather different to that currently assumed. Our x = 0 sample showed a measured TN = 92 K, but had its ordering temperature increased to 275 K upon annealing in a furnace. If the initially observed TN = 92 K in our parent sample was due to tiny oxygen deficiency, then this implies that the TN(x) curve drops very quickly with small x, in contrast to the phase diagram that was previously assumed. This would yield a magnetic phase diagram for La2-xSrxCoO4 which resembles the well known one found for La2-xSrxCuO4: showing a decrease from TN = 275 K to around 40 K at very low x. In this new proposal we will explore the ordering and slow dynamics in the low doping regime of La2-xSrxCoO4.
