Metatranscriptome samples collected every ~4 hours over the course of 3 days (April 15th - 18th, 2019) following a Lagrangian float deployed at the northernmost station (~42 N 158 W) of the SCOPE Gradients 3 expedition (KM1906). Triplicate seawater samples (approx. 10 liters each) were taken from a ~15 meter depth, pre-filtered through a 100 micrometer mesh, collected onto 0.2 micrometer polycarbonate filters, and then flash frozen in liquid nitrogen. After the cruise, whole community RNA was extracted from filters and depleted for ribosomal RNA prior to sequencing, resulting in libraries predominantly representing RNA expression of the prokaryotic communities.
