Knockout of alpha beta but not gamma delta T cells in chickens is associated with high cytotoxicity and deficiency of regulatory and helper T cells

In this analysis we looked into differences of the Microbiome from Caecum and Faeces of genome edited chickens lacking either alpha/beta or gamma/delta T cells in comparison to wild type. Knowledge about the role in function of T cells in chickens are the key to a modern livestock in which we prevent diseases and reduce the use of antibiotics as chickens are one of the most important protein sources worldwide.
