This dataset was collected during the cruise HE431 (HABCYST, 18.08.2014 –08.09.2014) with RV HEINCKE from Bremerhaven, Germany to Bremerhaven, Germany. It contains measurements of total suspended particulate matter SPM [mg/L], particulate organic matter POM [mg/L] and particulate inorganic matter PIM [mg/L] from water samples collected via CTD. In total, 31 stations have been sampled from various depth. Water samples were filtered onboard through 0.7 μm pore size, glass fiber filters (Whatmann GF/F, 47mm) under low vacuum. Filters were frozen immediately at -25 °C until gravimetric analysis in laboratory according to IOCCG recommendations.
Chief Scientist of RV HEINCKE cruise HE431: Dr. Uwe John, Alfred-Wegener-Institut Helmholtz-Zentrum für Polar- und Meeresforschun, BremerhavenThe HAB research was conducted as part of the IOC/SCOR program on Global Ecology and Oceanography of Harmful Algal Blooms (GEOHAB) within the Core Research Project on HABs in Fjords and Coastal Embayments. The AWI contribution was provided by the HGF Program Earth and Environment under PACES Theme 2 (Coast) Workpackage 3.
