The data comprise processed active-source seismic data acquired with ocean bottom seismometer (OBS) data. The data were collected at Venere mud volcano during expedition POS515 with the research vessel POSEIDON (Riedel et al., 2017) in the Mediterranean Sea, Calabrian Arc offshore southern Italy (map under further details). The entire data set consists of 11 OBS stations. Seismic data were shot across the OBS along seven profiles. Each OBS consist of 4 channels (channel 1: hydrophone; channel 2: horizontal component 1; channel 3: horizontal component 2; channel 4: vertical component).
The data are provided in SEG-Y format. Each uploaded file (308 files in total) consists of the airgun shots recorded with the individual Ocean-Bottom-Seismometers (OBS).Naming convention is as follows using one file p1006_sub1096.obsV01.ch1.sgy as example:p1006: Sub-survey name (from entire POS515 cruise)_sub1096: line name (1096, 1097, 1098, 1099, 1100, 1101, 1102)obsV01: OBS-station number (from V01, V02, V03, V04, V05, V06, V07, V08, V09, V11, V12; station V10 had no data recorded)ch1: channel number (1, 2, 3, 4)sgy: data typeEach segy-data file has header-information set that can be used for plotting and analyses:trace-count (tracr, byte : 1)shotpoint number (byte 17-20), as defined for entire cruise POS515 (see cruise report for local shot-point and survey association)shot X coordinate (sx, byte :73-76, coordinate in UTM, WGS84, zone 33N; value given in centimeter)shot Y coordinate (sy, byte: 77-80, coordinate in UTM, WGS84, zone 33N; value given in centimeter)OBS X coordinate (gx, byte: 81-84, coordinate in UTM, WGS84, zone 33N; value given in centimeter)OBS Y coordinate (gy, byte: 85-88, coordinate in UTM, WGS84, zone 33N; value given in centimeter)
