Dissolved copper in deep-sea pore waters from multi corer SO268/1_79-1, central equatorial Pacific Ocean

DOI

Samples for dissolved (<0.2 µm) copper (Cu) in deep-sea pore waters from the Clarion Clipperton Zone, German and Belgian license areas for polymetallic nodule mining in the Pacific Ocean, were collected with a multicorer in 2019 during cruise SO268. Samples were obtained at 2 cm intervals for the upper ca. 25 cm of sediment through centrifugation and filtration through 0.2 µm PES syringe filters for trace metal analyses. The goal of this was to assess trace metal concentrations in pore waters and spatial heterogeneity. Samples were analyzed between 2019 and 2021 by quadrupole ICP-MS in kinetic energy discrimination (KED) mode.
