Low energy magnetic excitations in Sm based pyrochlores

DOI

Few studies of Sm pyrochlores are reported in literature. It is believed that these coumpounds remain in a disordered state down to the lowest temperatures, mainly due to the very weak antiferromagnetic exchange interaction and the small magnetic moment of the Sm ions. Our results at low temperatures indicate that the compounds proposed to be studied here undergo a phase transition below 500 mK, and its ground state may present similar surprising results as other pyrochlore systems.
