Methanotrophic Microbial Diversity from Mangrove Areas of Sao Paulo - Brazil

Enrichments of water, sediment, and submerged sediment samples were performed using an atmosphere with increasing methane concentrations in air (v/v) to find methanotrophic bacteria tolerant to high concentrations of this important greenhouse gas. The main goal is to evaluate such bacteria to produce polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) using methane as substrate and possibly natural gas.
