Biogeography and genomic adaptations of giant isopods of the genus Bathynomus with new insights into B. giganteus

We report the first genome size and heterozygosity estimates for B. giganteus and demonstrate significant species-specific expansions in stress-response protein families, notably highlighting enhanced protein-folding capabilities (Hsp60 chaperones) linked to enhanced deep-sea stress tolerance.

This submission represents the first whole genome sequence of B. giganteus using paired-end Illumina sequencing.
