The first "migrant corridor" in the Orbits dataset includes a total of 5,203 observations and 207 variables. This dataset examines the migration trajectory of Romanians in Spain, as well as their social ties within both countries, along with other transnational ties. Specifically, it focuses on the largest migration corridor between Dâmbovița (Romania) on one side and Castelló (Spain) on the other.
The dataset consists of egos (303), alters (4,803), and references provided by the ego to conduct additional interviews (97). These observations fall into three categories corresponding to different migrant groups. The first group, "MS," includes those observations related to migrants who moved to Castelló and settled there (2,186). The second group, "NM" (2,667), contains observations concerning respondents who never moved to Spain. Lastly, the "RM" category (350) consists of migrants who, after spending some time in the Spanish province, decided to return to their place of origin in Romania.
