The research and development of new detection devices is a key issue to be addressed in neutron scattering due to the lack of 3He worldwide. Neutron radiative capture in heavy metals isuch as Cd, that has a large (10^2-10^3 barns) cross section for neutron radiative capture, may provide an effective tool for thermal neutron counting devices. We propose to test an array of five detectors for neutron diffraction measurements composed by an Yttrium-Aluminium-Perovskite crystal coupled with a cadmium sheet (for neutrons-to-gamma conversion). This detector has already proved to be effective as a single channel device. We intend to test its performances as a multichannel array, thus providing a more quantitative infomration on the effectiveness of this approach.
