The study aimed to characterize a light-colored (LC) mutant of P. yezoensis with a unique "light-dark-light" color transition phenotype during thallus growth, identify candidate mutation loci associated with this pigment trait via genome resequencing, and analyze the transcriptional dynamics of these candidate genes across key growth stages using transcriptome sequencing to elucidate their functional roles in pigment metabolism.
