Magnetic Transition in Li-MeNH2

DOI

Previously we completed an experiment on ARGUS to determine the extent of magnetic transitions in Li(MeNH2)4. This experiment was designed to overcome sample environment problems we encountered on EMU in utilising muons to examine cryogenic, air-sensitive systems. The ability of ARGUS to provide high momentum muons enabled us to accurately prepare a sample of Li(MeNH2)4 off-site in a sealed quartz container – rather than in situ condensation of MeNH2 gas into metallic cans which had proven extremely difficult on EMU. Unfortunately, due to problems with the cryostat and tuning of incident momentum, we were only able to record data at a few temperatures. We were able to determine a sharp transition between 10-15K. This proposal aims to finalise this study, and reconcile differences in data collected on ARGUS and EMU.
