MoMeNTS ArT, a performing arts company founded in 1997 (with initial activities starting in 1992 in Valencia), is dedicated to individuals with physical, mental, and sensory disabilities and mental health challenges. They focus on both creative expression and rehabilitative therapy, primarily emphasizing delivering captivating artistic performances.
Their approach is rooted in the therapeutic aspects of dance and theatre, with three key foundations: Firstly, recognizing the inherent human need for movement; secondly, acknowledging the proven effectiveness of dance as a natural non-verbal form of communication; and thirdly, understanding the neurological significance of dance movements in stimulating proprioceptive receptors, especially fine movements, which play a pivotal role in shaping human consciousness and influencing aspects like body awareness and perception of time and space.
Dance and theatre, involving coordination, movement control, and rhythm, integrate with psychology and pedagogy. These disciplines are utilized to reinforce, correct, and stabilize neurological activity. This integration, combined with self-discipline, self-control, and the cultivation of aesthetic interest, fosters an environment where participants interact with instructors and peers to promote social communication, interpersonal relationships, self-esteem, independence, security, confidence, stress relief, and emotional control.
MoMeNTS ArT considers art for individuals with disabilities as a concept that should be approached as something natural and commonplace. Practical implementation, however, may require necessary adaptations to ensure its equal validity.
Through education, the establishment of the company, and the staging of performances, they seek to provide culturally enriching experiences for individuals while employing a methodology that ensures personal and personalized attention.
MoMeNTS ArT is registered as a center under the Consellería de Igualdad y Políticas Inclusivas of the Generalitat Valenciana. They also hold affiliations with organizations such as AVED (Asociación Valenciana de Empresas de Danza), FNAD (Federación Nacional de Arte y Discapacidad), and FECED (Federación Estatal de Compañías de y Empresas de Danza), as well as connections with various national and international entities in the field of Culture and Diversity.
