His parents were Foday Jafuneh and Hawa Kambai. Among his siblings were, Fatoumata Jafuneh, Kaba Jafuneh, Jilang Jafuneh and Maimuna Jafuneh. He hosted Seedy Sarjo and his cousin Malang Jafuneh. Malang was married to Mariama Kijera. Karamo’s brother and his family lived at Abuko and his other relatives were in Bambally. Their banter-mates are the people of Kombo because they are from Kabu. Jassey and Sorijang were the first Mandinkas to arrive in Kombo. The land was owned by the Bainunka ethnic group. They fought and defeated the Bainunkas and then acquired control of the area. After several years, they saw some people with long Bamboo sticks arriving and they said; “look at our “Bong Jangolu.” Meaning, look at the people with long bamboo sticks, hence, the origin of Bojang as their surname. The people of Kombo honored the guests from Kabu by killing a bull for them. Since the people from Kabu were referred to as their elders, they took the fore legs of the bull to signify their elderly position.
