Maritime Aerosol Network (MAN) measurements during METEOR cruise M208

DOI

In this campaign, the MICROTOPS II hand-held multi-band Sun Photometer (SPM) was used to characterize the aerosol optical depth (τ ) and the associated Ångström exponent (α) of atmospheric particles, provided by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The measurements with the Microtops also contribute to NASA's Maritime Aerosol Network (MAN), as part of the Aerosol Robotic Network (AERONET). In addition, the instrument measures precipitable water vapor (PWV). This specific MICROTOPS II model is equipped with four channels operating at wavelengths of 380, 440, 675, and 870 nm. The instruments were calibrated before and after the field campaigns according to the procedure described by Smirnov et al. (2009), JGR.The data is also available from the MAN website at https://aeronet.gsfc.nasa.gov/new_web/cruises_v3/Meteor_25_1.html
