Magnetism in the inverse spinel ScMn2O4

DOI

The inverse spinel ScMn2O4 contains a mixture of Mn2+ and Mn3+ ions and shows probable ferrimagnetic order below 58 K. This proposal aims to investigate this magnetic transition and probe the origin of a low-temperature anomaly, probably via its effect on the relaxation in the "1/3 tail". This proposed experiment forms part of a programme to follow up the magnetic properties of this compound which includes investigations of diffuse single crystal neutron scattering and inelastic neutron scattering.
