IRIS Syscal Pro electrical resistivity data in the region of Inuvik, Tuktoyaktuk and the Mackenzie Delta, Northwest Territories, Canada

DOI

This dataset contains four (4) electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) surveys taken during a summer 2023 Arctic expedition, led by the Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research. The scientists recorded ERT profiles offshore of the northern and southern coastlines of Tuktoyaktuk Island (Northwest Territories, Canada), as well as directly on the island. The measurements were part of the "DEPTHAW Field Campaign" within the "Modular Observation solutions for Earth Systems" (MOSES) program. Two of the surveys consist of multiple stitched segments, as the scientists moved the geoelectric cables from the sea (north of the island), across the island, and then into the sea again (south of the island). We refer to these surveys as "amphibious" profiles. The dataset provides reception voltage, injected current, resistance, and calculated apparent resistivity data for all quadrupole measurements. Stacking and standard deviation data for each measurement are also available. Topographic and bathymetric data, which are important for the inversion of ERT data, are available as separate files. These files also contain active layer thickness data where available. We collected the onshore topography data with an Abney clinometer, while we obtained the bathymetry data by extracting water depths from interpolated bathymetry maps at approximate electrode positions on the seafloor.
