Probing the superconducting state of the non-centrosymmetric Heusler superconductors (LaPtBi and YPtBi).

DOI

Recently, superconductivity has been discovered in a number of materials whose lattices lack inversion symmetry, with important implications for the symmetry of the superconducting state. In this proposal we intend to continue our investigation into the Heusler superconductors. Heusler compounds have attracted a great deal of interest in spintronics as these materials are considered to be half metals, that is only electrons which have one spin direction have a finite density of states at the Fermi surface. Recently, there has been the discovery new superconductors in the Heusler family, the so-called ¿Half Hueslar¿ LaPtBi and YPtBi with a superconducting transition of 0.9 and 0.77 K respectively. Therefore, it is timely and interesting to probe the superconducting state of LaPtBi and YPtBi.
