Continuation: Metastable Water Ice and Nitric Acid ¿ observing the phase changes

DOI

Nitric acid plays important roles in the atmosphere, in all aggregate states and combined with water.During the last periode we were running the proposal RB1110207 "Metastable Water Ice and Nitric Acid - observing the phase changes". We were very successful in detecting the first INS spectrum of pure crystalline nitric acid (see our report). Unfortunately we were not able to record the spectrum of the amorphous pure nitric acid, which was also included in the mentioned proposal. This was mainly due to the lack of beamtime. The beam was off from 30th to 31st March and thus we could not complete these measurements. Here we apply for another two days of beamtime to measure amorphous pure nitric acid and amorphous ice to see its respective transformations. The samples will be sent in a transport dewar at LN2 temperature.
