Lowered ADCP data at 47°N in the subpolar North Atlantic

DOI

Current measurements from a total of 14 cruises that were carried out in the subpolar North Atlantic between 2003 and 2017. The data set comprises 525 stations along a line that, from west to east, crosses Flemish Cap at about 47° N and reaches the European continental slope at about 49° N. Two Teledyne RDI 300 kHz Workhorse Monitor acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCPs), one upward and one downward looking, were mounted into the water sampler to measure velocities during CTD casts. The raw data were processed to yield full depth profiles of horizontal velocity with a vertical resolution of 10 m. Barotropic tidal velocity was obtained from the global TPXO model at each station and was then subtracted from the lowered ADCP velocity profiles.
