Spin Excitations and "Hourglass" Dispersion in the Model High-Tc superconductor stage-4 La2CuO4.12

DOI

The unique "hourglass"-type dispersion observed within several classes of hole-doped cuprates has garnered considerable theoretical and experimental interest. Here we propose to map out the spin excitations, resonance mode, and saddle point dispersion in a model high-Tc superconductor, stage-4 La2CuO4+d on the MAPS spectrometer. The oxygen dopants within stage-4 La2CuO4 order within a three dimensional crystal within the La2CuO4 matrix making this the ideal monolayer cuprate for studying spin excitations in a high-Tc cuprate with minimal dopant disorder. The dispersion of spin density wave excitations through the resonance saddle point and toward the zone boundary in the high energy regime will be studied and the distribution of spectral weight analyzed in a system whose dopant order can be either quenched or annealed.
