Stress And Memory contextualization (SAM) study

SAM_CodeBook.csv contains variable explanations for all data files (except .sav file, which includes explanations in .sav file). An empty informed consent form of the SAM-study is provided in SAM_empty_informed_consent_form.pdf.

Experimental Procedures

Participants were randomly assigned to three experimental conditions (see SAM_Experimental_Conditions.csv): delayed-stress (group 1), immediate-stress (group 2), no-stress (group 3). Psychosocial stress was induced via the Trier Social Stress Test (TSST).

SAM_Timepoints_reactivity_measures.csv provides an overview of the measurement time points in the SAM study.

SAM_Actual_Time_TSST.csv shows the actual timepoints of the TSST tests.

Memory Contextualization A dataset with performance data from 100 healthy male subjects on the Memory Contextualization Task, scored according to the signal detection theory (SAM_MCT.csv).

Fear Generalization A dataset with performance data from 120 healthy male subjects on the Fear Generalization Task (SAM_FGT.csv). Amperage during the fear conditioning phase of the FGT (SAM_FGT._Amperage.csv).

Endocrine Measures Salivary cortisol and alpha-amylase levels after the Trier Social Stress Test (TSST) and placebo-TSST in healthy males. SAM_Actual_Time_Saliva_samples.csv includes the actual time points at which saliva samples were collected.

A dataset with salivary cortisol (sCortisol) and alpha-amylase (sAA) levels (collected between noon and 7 pm), from 120 healthy male participants after the Trier Social Stress Test (TSST) and placebo-TSST. sCortisol (SAM_sCortisol.csv) and sAA (SAM_sAA.csv) levels are provided in separate .csv files.

Self-report Questionnaires A dataset with demographics and self-report responses to the items of the questionnaires in the SAM-study. The data (SAM Questionnaire Masterfile.csv) and codebook (SAM Questionnaire Masterfile_codebook.csv) are provided in separate .csv files.
