We propose to measure the magnetic diffraction pattern of the potential Kitaev spin liquid compound Li2RhO3. Moderate spin orbit coupling in the Rh4+ ion is expected to results in a ground state doublet which in combination with the honeycomb structure of RhO6 and edge-sharing octahedra, gives rise to highly directional Kitaev interactions. The resulting lattice is strongly frustrated and might be the reason why no long-range magnetic order has been found in this compound. Our goal is to measure the diffraction pattern to verify whether long-range magnetic order is really absent and to investigate the diffuse scattering as a function of temperature.
