Detrital zircon geochronologic analysis of the Lanaittu Sandstone in Eastern Sardinia, Italy

DOI

The data set comprises the results of the U-Pb dating analysis of detrital zircons from two samples (177-1 and 177-2) from the middle-upper Campanian turbiditic Lanaittu Sandstone. The samples were cored along a geognostic borehole in the Lanaittu valley in eastern Sardinia. The analysis was performed following the procedure as in Pickering et al. (2020) and Härtel et al. (2026) using a Resonetics Resolution LR 193 nm excimer laser attached to an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometers Agilent 7700. The laser ablation system was equipped with a M50 Cell, which was flushed with a helium gas flow of 700 L/min and nitrogen gas flow of 4 L/min. The ablation spot size was set to 33 µm, the ablation time to 20 s, and the repetition rate to 5 Hz. The background was measured for 20 s. The same system setting was used to measure both the validation references and the samples.
