Files are provided as zip-archive with data in ASCII format. The data bank system was SIR (Scientific Information Retrieval, about 1990) and the data are formated for this system. Each data set consists of two files:1. the .dat-file (e.g. rec2.dat) contains the data prepared in rows and columns.2. the .sma-file (e.g. rec.sma) contains the information how the data are to read. The *.sma-files are to read as follows: datalist: the names of the variables and the colums and the data format (integer, floating point ...) value labels: the numerical codes of string variables (e.g. for rocks) var labels: labels for the variables The file calcolo.exe is a DOS-program (source code in BASIC) for visualizing the Calabrian map (a kind of a former GIS). This program uses calcolo.dat as input file, which is identical to rec2.dat (CALCOLO ist an acronym for Calabrian Computer Log).
