Hydride-ion mobility analysis of SrVO2H using quasielastic neutron scattering

DOI

The proposed experiment at ISIS aims at the characterization of the diffusional motion of the hydride-ions in SrVO2H, which possesses the highest H (hydride) content among transition metal oxyhydrides. SrVO2H is derived from the simple, cubic, perovskite SrVO3. As a peculiarity, the mixed O2-/H- anion arrangement in SrVO2H is fully ordered and its structure is tetragonal displaying alternating sheets of VO2 and SrH along the tetragonal axis. The elucidation of the diffusional properties of hydride-ions in SrVO2H from QENS measurements will give new fundamental understanding of transition metal – hydrogen diffusion in elusive perovskite transition metal oxyhydride materials.
