Liquid water path derived from low-frequency microwave radiometer measurements on Polarstern cruise PS144

DOI

This data set contains daily files of vertically integrated cloud liquid water (clwvi, also known as liquid water path (LWP)) derived from measurements of the low-frequency microwave radiometer HATPRO (Humidity And Temperature PROfiler, Rose et al., 2005) on Polarstern cruise PS144 (Rabe & Geibert, 2025). The data set covers the date range from 10 August to 5 October 2024. The LWP retrieval is based on a regression retrieval whose configuration and training is described in Walbröl et al. (2022). To avoid biases in the derived LWP, we applied a clear sky offset correction, which is also described in Walbröl et al. (2022).

Each netCDF file contains liquid water path estimates derived from HATPRO operated onboard Polarstern during cruise PS144. The total number of files is 56 and the total size is about 80 MB. Each file further contains meta data about the position (latitude, longitude, height above mean sea level), and the quality of the derived liquid water path.
