Characterisation of the anhysteretic superelastic behaviour of Ni-Fe(Co)-Ga magnetic shape memory upon load/unload at varying temperature.

DOI

Magnetic shape memory alloys are a unique class of material which produce huge elongation (up to 6%) upon the application of a magnetic field. This combined with fast response and long fatigue life makes them ideal for actuator applications . We will be studying the underlying mechanism of a martensite transformation which is responsible for these effects. This proposal will shed light on the fundamental aspects of this transformation.
