Thalassobius gelatinovorus is a member of the family Rhodobacteraceae reclassified in 2005 by Arahal et al. as a comb. nov. of Ruegeria gelatinovorans, reclassified as a comb. nov. of Agrobacterium gelatinovora, described in 1992 by Rüger et al. Genome sequencing of Thalassobius gelatinovorus CECT 4357 was done using the Illumina MiSeq system by the Central Service of Support to Experimental Research (SCSIE) of the University of Valencia (Spain).
