The algal systematic survival mechanisms for intertidal challenge insighted from the genome of Pyropia haitanensis and multi-omics

Multicellular intertidal red algae exhibit the earliest, most systematic, and successful adaptation to intertidal environments. The research offers insights into the adaptive evolution involved in the critical transition of organisms from marine- to land-based lifestyles, while also helping to explain how macroalgae can thrive in, and colonize, the stressful conditions of intertidal zones.
