Images were recorded in transects at HAUSGARTEN station EG-IV in 2015, 2017, and 2021 using the OFOBS towed camera system. A set of 30 images were randomly selected from the beginning, middle, and end of the transects (total = 90 images per year). Images that were too bright, too dark, or outside the range 1.3 - 1.6 m above the seafloor were excluded from analysis. Stones in each image were annotated using the online program BIIGLE (biigle.de). Three red laser points in each image provided a size reference to calculate the surface area. The number of stones was divided by the surface area of each image to yield the density.
