The purpose of this survey was to investigate the post-training careers of trainees during the two and a half years to three years immediately following their course at Government Training Centres, and to determine the extent to which trainees remained in their training trade over a period of time, and the effects of this on factors such as prejudice against GTC trainees on the part of employers, trade unions, and workmates.

Reasons for taking and leaving jobs, how jobs obtained. Trade union membership and experience of trade union acceptance/rejection. Job satisfaction. Attitude to GTC and willingness to recommend others to attend GTC. Background Variables Sex, age, educational level, final marks on course, whether disabled, trade, marital status, place of birth and parents' place of birth, housing type and tenure.
