Water column raw data (Kongsberg EM 124 entire dataset) of RV MARIA S. MERIAN during cruise MSM137

Raw water column data were collected aboard RV MARIA S. MERIAN during cruise MSM137 using a Kongsberg EM 124 multibeam echosounder. The expedition took place during 2025-05-10 – 2025-06-13 from Reykjavik (Iceland) to Reykjavik (Iceland) in the North Atlantic. The aim of M137 was to apply enhanced geophysical methods in order to image and identify sills on a detailed scale. Magmatic intrusions are widespread all over the globe. Recently, the impact of sills and dikes onto sedimentary basins is discussed intensly, e.g. for contact-metamorphism and venting of methane. Even global climate anomalies were recently linked to regional sill emplacements and associated outbursts of methane into the atmosphere. Data were recorded within the Norwegian EEZ including Svalbard. Sound velocity profiles (SVP) were applied on the data for calibration. Please see environmental data and the cruise report for details. The data are unprocessed and can therefore contain incorrect depth measurements (artifacts) if not further processed. Note that refraction errors may occur when no proper SVP is applied. Data acquisition was done by BGR and CAU, provision of the data is supported by the DAM Project Underway Research Data and published according to the FAIR principles.
