Metagenomic and isolate genome sequencing of the kakapo (Strigops habroptilis), an herbivorous parrot endemic to New Zealand. Faecal samples were obtained from healthy adult and juvenile kakapo to explore the functional ability of the microbes which reside in the kakapo gut.
