Raw multibeam bathymetry data were collected aboard RV SONNE during cruise SO296/2 using a Kongsberg EM 710 multibeam echosounder. The expedition took place during 21.01.2023 - 21.02.2023 from Talcahuano to San Vicente (Chile) in the eastern Pacific Ocean. The aim of the cruise was on the transformation and degradation of organic matter and the impact of water column anoxia on the affected habitats and food chains, and biodiversity. An important focus was also the investigation of the oceanographic situation, especially concerning micro turbulence. Further, the influence of postglacial changes in the atmospheric and oceanic current regime in the southeastern Pacific on two very different fjord systems was investigated by way of example. In addition, the importance of eustatic sea-level rise as well as regional isostatic uplift and glacier dynamics on the fjord systems was assessed.Data were recorded within the EEZ of Chile as well as outside EEZs. Surface sound velocity was applied on the data. Please see environmental data and the cruise report for details. The data are unprocessed and can therefore contain incorrect depth measurements (artifacts) if not further processed. Note that refraction errors may occur when no proper SVP is applied. Acquisition and provision of the data are part of the DAM Underway Project and published according to the FAIR principles.
