Since 2003, researchers associated with the Institute for the Study of Protest and Social Movements (Institut für Protest- und Bewegungsforschung, ipb, http://protestinstitut.eu) have conducted surveys at demonstrations. This study is part of this ongoing series. The aim of the study is to gain insights into the composition and attitudes of participants at the demonstration against the planned trade agreements between the USA and Europe (TTIP, Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership) and between Europe and Canada (CETA, Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement) in Berlin in Oc- tober 2015. The focus is particularly on socio-demographic characteristics, political attitudes of the respondents encountered at the demonstration, and their evaluation of the planned trade agree- ments. The demonstration with the title “TTIP & CETA stoppen. Für einen gerechten Welthandel!” (Stop TTIP & CETA. For a Fair World Trade!) took place on October 15nd in Berlin and marked the peak of a Europe-wide mobilization of the trade agreements. According to the organizers, 250,000 people participated at the demonstration. The estimation by the police was 150,000 participants.

Seit 2003 führen Forscher des Instituts für Protest- und Bewegungsforschung (Institut für Protest- und Bewegungsforschung, ipb, http://protestinstitut.eu) Umfragen bei Demonstrationen durch. Diese Studie ist Teil dieser fortlaufenden Reihe. Ziel der Studie ist es, Einblicke in die Zusammensetzung und die Einstellungen der Teilnehmer*innen der Demonstration gegen die geplanten Handelsabkommen zwischen den USA und Europa (TTIP, Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership) und zwischen Europa und Kanada (CETA, Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement) im Oktober 2015 in Berlin zu gewinnen. Die Polizei schätzte die Teilnehmerzahl auf 150.000.
