Ce jeu de données présente la première caractérisation de l’indigénat des espèces arborées de France hexagonale à l’échelle des sylvoécorégions. Les sylvoécorégions constituent un découpage du territoire particulièrement adapté aux études forestières, basé sur des critères pédoclimatiques. Les taxons traités sont les espèces arborées au sens de l’Inventaire forestier national, c’est-à-dire les espèces ligneuses pouvant atteindre 5 mètres de haut à maturité. Mené par l’Institut national de l’information géographique et forestière, ce travail a été réalisé avec l’expertise des conservatoires botaniques nationaux et de spécialistes des questions d’indigénat. À l’issue de ce travail, 119 espèces sont considérées comme étant indigènes ou cryptogènes dans au moins une sylvoécorégion, et donc indigènes ou cryptogènes en France. Cette nouvelle information est maintenant disponible sur la plateforme de l’Etat « recherche.data.gouv » et peut être utilisée dans les études nécessitant une approche fine de l’indigénat des espèces arborées.

This database is the first characterization of the native tree species of mainland France at the scale of sylvoecoregions. Sylvoecoregions are territorial divisions based on pedoclimatic criteria, particularly suitable for forestry studies. The tree species taken into account are, as defined by the French National Forest Inventory, those that can reach 5 meters in height at maturity. Conducted by the French National Institute for Geographic and Forestry Information (IFN), this work was carried out using the expertise of the National botanical conservatories and of tree biogeography and ecology specialists. As a result, 119 species are considered to be native or cryptogenic in at least one sylvoecoregion, and therefore native or cryptogenic in France. This new database is now available on the French government platform “recherche.data.gouv” and can be used for ecological and forestry studies requiring a spatially detailed understanding of indigenousness.
