Dataset for Exploring Open Science Engagement in the Global South

DOI

The dataset was collected as part of a study on the contribution of Global South countries to the development of open access to scientific information. In particular, the collected data allows the description of the development of open articles, journals, repositories, and research datasets in 101 Global South countries, the comparison with other countries, and the comparison with similar data collected in 2017. The purpose of the study is to contribute to a global understanding of open science and, in particular, of issues faced by Global South countries. The results will be presented as part of the conference series Open Divide https://opendivide.hypotheses.org/ They will be published as an article and in the proceedings.
The data may be interesting for further research on open science (science studies), especially in the field of developing and least developed countries.
