The Tau Degradome Foundation Atlas (Version 1) is an open-access, curated resource of proteolytic peptides derived from tau protein isoforms relevant to neurodegeneration research. The dataset includes:Wild-type tau (UniProt ID: P10636)BigTau [1]Low molecular weight (lmw) tau [1]Tau_4A [1]This atlas provides a comprehensive reference of proteolytic cleavage products of tau, annotated with chemical and biophysical features to support biomarker discovery, assay development, and translational neuroscience research [1].Key FeaturesUnique BigTau peptides are flagged (unique_BigTau=1) to aid in the identification of novel BigTau-specific biomarkers.Thermodynamic stability is predicted for each peptide, with stable candidates labelled (stable=1), highlighting their suitability for biomarker assay development.Hydrophobicity and charge values are provided to guide selection of peptides with favourable solubility profiles [2].Proteolytic origin is annotated for every peptide, including cleavage site information.Data format: All peptide annotations are provided as comma-delimited ASCII .csv files.Convenience files: Unique BigTau peptides are also provided separately as a compressed file (BigTau-unique.csv).Compression format: Datasets are distributed in .tar.gz format and can be extracted with:tar -xvzf FILENAME.tar.gzReproducibility and MethodsAll datasets can be fully regenerated using open-source software tools, including Python and SAS. To ensure transparency and reproducibility, the repository includes complete Python and SAS scripts with documentation, following the methodology described in [2].ApplicationsIdentification of tau-derived peptides for neurodegeneration biomarker discovery.Development of chemically stable and water-soluble assay targets.Exploration of the proteolytic landscape of tau isoforms for translational neuroscience.References[1] Fischer I.
