The Tropospheric Ozone Assessment Report (TOAR) is an initiative of the International Global Atmospheric Chemistry (IGAC) project. It has recently produced the first comprehensive assessment of the global tropospheric ozone distribution and trends and it established a database with ozone observations from several 1000 measurement sites around the world, which is freely accessible for research. TOAR developed a large suite of air quality metrics that can be calculated online in the Jülich Open Web Interface https://join.fz-juelich.de. The TOAR data and results from the TOAR publications have been very well received by the scientific community and they have contributed to major climate and health assessments. Recently, a new phase of TOAR has begun, which will provide an updated assessment on tropospheric ozone in 2024. This presentation shows the initial plans for the TOAR-II initiative, including new science as well as extensive development efforts on the TOAR data infrastructure. The presentation has been given by TOAR-II chair Owen Cooper at a web meeting of the U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) on 17-Apr-2020.
