Variables The first 23 variables are those extracted from the 1971 Census by Valerie Imber in order to describe the social characteristics of the authorities responsible for the Personal Social Services. A further 129 variables for 1974/75, particularly those on the personal social services, but also including some statistics derived from the DHSS publication 'Aids to Households' for 1974/75 and some medical statistics are included.
