Most of surveys studied on Antarctic microbial diversity focuses on communities inhabit sea ice, soils or freshwater lakes in Antarctic Oases. However, the knowledge of the microbial diversity of marine sediments in Antarctica is very scarce. We explored the 454 pyrosequencing technology to present the survey of the diversity and community composition of bacteria and archaea in sea sediments of the Antarctic. Surface sediment samples were collected from 3 locations of the King George Island, Antarctic.
