In fish farming, plant protein sources are expected to replace fish meal (FM) as a feed ingredient. However, high dietary levels of the plant protein sources cause several abnormalities to fish physiological condition and growth retardation. Animal-protein sources are also widely used as substitutes for FM in fish feed, while its physiological effect is still obscure. In this project, the effects of inclusion of animal proteins to plant protein-based diet on red seabream were investigated by transcriptome analysis.
