Doped Vanadium oxide-hydride phases

DOI

Complex transition metal oxides are of great interest due to the wide range of complex physical behaviours they exhibit. Recently by applying low-temperature synthesis methods we have prepared a series of oxide-hydride phases, based on strontium vanadium oxides, which exhibit both a highly unusual crystallographically ordered oxide-hydride lattice, and high temperature antiferromagnetic order. In order to better understand the electronic interactions in the phases and in an attempt to induce metallic or correlated electronic behaviour we have been studying the effects of titanium substitution on both the chemistry and the physical behaviour of these phases. We propose to collect neutron powder diffraction data from these ¿doped¿ samples to characterise both the crystal structures and magnetic order in these phases.
