A camera test to explore fast neutron imaging on ChipIr relevant for nuclear fusion applications

DOI

Fast neutron radiography and tomography are powerful tools for non-destructive analysis (NDA) of samples and for imaging of technological processes, applicable to a broad field of industrial and basic research applications. ChipIr can be considered the first and unique instrument among the suit of beamlines at the ISIS spallation neutron source to deliberately extract from the target an atmospheric-like fast neutron spectrum with energy up to hundreds of mega-electron volt. Such a unique neutron spectrum available on ChipIr has the potential to include fast neutron imaging technique to the existing portfolio of scientific techniques already explored on the beamline. Therefore, we aim with this proposal to start exploring fast neutron imaging technique on the ChipIr beamline by means of well-known neutron imaging detector systems already developed for standard neutron imaging applications
