Benthic foraminiferal counts >63 µm, and grain-size fractions absolute and relative abundances in sediment core PS72/340-5

DOI

PS72/340-5 was retrieved in 2008 during the Polarstern expedition PS72 (ARKXXIII/-3). Samples were freeze-dried and weight, thereafter, samples were wet and dry sieved over a >63 µm and 125 µm mesh, respectively. For each fraction the weight was determined and is provided as grain-size weight and % for each analysed sample. Benthic foraminifera were picked from sample splits of each grain-size fraction. Extrapolated to 100%, counts on the grain-size fraction were combined to create a data set >63 µm. Planktonic foraminifera abundances are provided for the size fraction >125 µm .This table shows the absolute abundances of species per gramm dry weight and their relative abundances. Species that don't contribute to bioevents in the sense of Wollenburg & Matthiessen (submitt.) were combined as 'others'.
