Ceilometer raw data measured at Neumayer Station (2020-09), links to files

DOI

The meteorological observatory Neumayer continuously operates a ceilometer to monitor cloud ceiling above the station. The instrument is mounted on the roof of the station building. Besides autodetected cloud levels the instrument records backscatter profiles of the laser beam. This dataset contains the full raw data from the instrument. The measurement interval is typically 3 to 4 times per minute. All data published here is left "as recorded", no quality control was applied.

The ceilometer is mounted on the roof of the station building, the height offset was set to 25m. This offset only affects the detected cloud levels, not the full backscatter profile. All files contained in this dataset are zip compressed text files.
