phylotranscriptomic analysis of Caryophyllales

Goal is to find the evolutionary relationships of the hypediverse Caryophyllales (cacti, venus flytrap, beets). This plant group contains many instances of convergence (e.g. C4 photosynthesis), which makes it perfect to study how these adaptations arise. Knowing the evolutionary relationships, helps determine how often these adaptations have arise and what the best comparisons are.
